My experience

I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. I have supported individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and eating disorders. I am also qualified in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based approach for processing distressing memories and reducing their emotional impact.

I have specialised in working with individuals living with long-term health conditions. I understand the profound impact that chronic illness can have on mental health; not being able to make plans because of unpredictable flare ups, grieving the version of you before illness, or feeling fearful of losing control. While therapy cannot treat the physical condition itself, I have seen how psychological support can help people to live alongside their condition with more acceptance and less distress.

More recently, my work in eating disorders has allowed me to support individuals struggling not just with their relationship with food and their body, but sometimes also having trouble understanding how to deal with overwhelming emotions or navigating issues with identity. I provide a compassionate approach to help clients understand why the problem has emerged for them and to develop healthier ways of coping.

My approach

My approach is collaborative; you are the expert of your life, and I have expertise in mental health, and we can combine our expertise to find a way forward. My view is that problems with mental health arise out of trying our best with the tools we have at the time. When we realise this way of coping isn’t working for us anymore, that’s when therapy can be a helpful way to discover new tools.

I will always provide a confidential, safe, and compassionate space to work through your difficulties, with the aim that you leave therapy feeling empowered to make long-term changes.

I understand that people learn in different ways. While following a structure can be supportive, I will use flexibility and creativity to tailor therapy to your needs.
